New players to provide proof of age. o Kookas' Christmas bash a success HOLIDAY spirit and merrymaking overflowed as Warilla Sports Cricket Club’s players, supporters and parents celebrated at the Kookas’ Christmas party on Saturday night. Oakleigh Park was the venue for the merriment as a huge number of juniors and their parents, seniors and their partners partied long and hard into the night.
o 14A's have an unbeaten 2005/06 WARILLA Sports Cricket Club’s under 14A side finished the 2005/06 campaign undefeated. Under the guidance of Darren Zampa, the 14As faced off against Shellharbour in the grandfinal rolling them for less than a tonne. The Warilla boys batted well to claim the title.
WARILLA Sports Cricket Club achieved its first back page coverage from the Lake Times of the 2005/06 season on Wednesday – and it was for a player who doesn’t even play for the club. Five-year-old Brayden Duckitt, brother of Kookas’ under 10 player Tamara Duckitt, was featured in a photo on the back page under the headline ‘Size doesn’t matter’.
Kooka Representative Duties
o 14s secure rep success at Kookas' nest KOOKAS Adam Zampa, Nic Maddinson, Todd McRorie and Chris Jarman starred in the South Coast under 14s representative side that won the Southern Zone title on Sunday. Fittingly, the seven-wicket win over Far South Coast was achieved at Oakleigh Park, home of the Kookas and under the guidance of Warilla Sports Cricket Club Life Member Darren Zampa.
o Warilla Juniors selected in Southern team KOOKAS Adam Zampa, Nic Maddinson, and Chris Jarman,who helped the South Coast under 14s representative side win the Southern Zone title, were rewarded for their efforts with their inclusion in the 14s Southern Zone representative team. Along with their team mates, the Warilla trio travelled to Cowra to contest the 14s Southern NSW Country Championships. All 3 players performed well & helped their team to a win over Western Zone, a loss to Illawarra & a draw with Riverina Zone to finish second.
o Warilla reps play at the home of The Don KOOKAS Adam Zampa, Nic Maddinson, Todd McRorie and Chris Jarman were part of the South Coast 14s representative side that played in the Invitational 14s Carnival grandfinal held on Anzac Day at Bradman Oval, Bowral. Nic showed what stuff he is made from when, not wanting to let his team down, played two games with a broken hand eventually succumbing to the injury after a great stand in the grandfinal. Adam & Todd once again bedazzled everyone with their combined spin attack & Chris was in fine form with the gloves & bat.
o Warilla reps take out SCDCA titles Congratulations to Kookas Nic Maddinson & Chris Jarman who were presented with trophies at the SCDCA Presentation. Nic won the 14As SCDCA batting average & aggregate while Chris won the Representative Player of the Year for the 14s South Coast Gold team.
o Henry selected in Colts squad FIRST grader Aaron Henry has been selected in the Southern Country Colts side for the annual clash with Northern after a powerful batting display in the recent Southern Carnival in the Illawarra. Henry slammed 150 against Western in Southern Zone’s second match of the carnival at Figtree Oval.
